Imperial has built and operated mines in British Columbia for over three decades. Operations began in 1991 with the restart of the Goldstream copper-zinc mine north of Revelstoke. The team then successfully built the Mount Polley copper-gold mine near Williams Lake which was commissioned in 1997.
The wholly owned Huckleberry copper-molybdenum mine, was also commissioned in 1997 and placed on care-and-maintenance in 2016.
Imperial acquired the Red Chris project in 2007 and enhanced the project with early exploration success. The company constructed the open pit mine and associated mill, and commissioned operations in 2015. As the first large-scale major mining project in the golden triangle of British Columbia, Red Chris required certain pioneering developments, including construction of a portion of the Northwest Transmission Line to deliver grid power to the mine site.
